A house that comes back to life and becomes its owner’s dream: classic Parisian style brought to Barcelona.
We all dream differently. Our client’s dream was to live like in Paris but in the city of Barcelona. He called us to tell us his ideas and to confirm that he was not crazy. It was just his dream.
The original house was in very poor condition. But after our visit we discovered its potential and how far it could go. We worked on the design and budget in a joint and balanced architectural proposal. And we got to work.
The construction of every corner of this fabulous house has been worked and rethought over and over again. We have made full scale models of the moldings of doors and main spaces. The materials, products and furniture have been exclusively selected from different parts of the world. The fireplaces from France, moldings from England, furniture from Italy, etc. The parquet has been worked in each room as an individual element: the wooden dowels and their framing were placed one by one to match precisely in all rooms of the house.
The most renovated area of the house is resolved in a single main room in which the kitchen, dining room and living room are harmoniously combined. The kitchen island is resolved as a monolithic sculpture. The wooden kitchen, with simple lines, acts as a neutral background. The dining area tries to lighten up with a glass table and comfortable chairs.
The living area is not a traditional modern living room. It is an area of rest and relaxation sheltered by the fireplace and windows. The television is maintained but as an element of occasional use. Well-being and a sense of comfort are sought at every step of the house.
Another small retreat is the master suite. With a gallery as a dressing room, an intermediate area full of light and peace is created. It can be used as a small reading room or a place to be quiet in the mornings. The bathroom, classic, plays with neutral and relaxed tones, in which light and sobriety prevail, without stridency.
Another of the bedrooms of the house also functions as a suite. Within the same style, with different tones, it maintains the tidy and classic lines, without overdoing it. The vanity area is open to a large window forming part of the room. The shower and toilet are adjacent but in a more private enclosed area.
Every corner of the house has been thought in the reform as if it were a hotel room. It should have a clean and beautiful design, easy to maintain and harmonious in the well-decorated whole. There is a transition and combination of colors between klein blue and lemon yellow throughout the house.
From the towel hangers, wooden floors, doors, windows, moldings and through the legs of the bathtub everything has been designed to achieve the desired effect in the renovation of this house. And much of the blame lies with its owner who has been deeply involved in each section getting a reform project in Barcelona but as if it were in the heart of Paris.
